Chelsea have called off their pre-season friendly against Drogheda United on Thursday night, football.london has learned.
It isn’t yet known why the match was called off.
It was due to be the Blues’ second friendly of the summer after the win over Peterborough at Cobham last weekend.
Chelsea have been in Ireland for the past three days for a training camp on the outskirts of Dublin where they have been going through two training sessions per day.
With that being the case, football.london understands that the players will instead have another training session on Thursday evening instead of playing the match.
- They are set to return to England later this week and continue training at Cobham before visiting Bournemouth for a friendly on Tuesday, July 27.
After that, The Mind Series of friendlies against Arsenal (August 1) and Spurs (August 4) will round off the friendly schedule before the Premier League season gets underway for Chelsea on August 14 with a home game against Crystal Palace.
